I help people make great decisions in the sale and purchase of their real estate assets.

This ability has been honed over a lifetime, but let’s start at the beginning, shall we?

About Keahi.

Growing up in Lahaina during the age of sugar plantations was a blessing with incredible freedom while under the watchful eyes of a small town with many opportunities to participate in sports and cultural activities.

I played baseball, tennis, football and wrestled. Our coaches expected us to play well on a team, do the right thing and do our share of the hard work.

Never quitting and applying these sports lessons to life was very important to these coaches and has helped me do my best every day.

Growing up on Maui taught me that who you are as a person is everything.

To achieve success and have a poor character or bad reputation is not success.

Each day I am eternally grateful for those on Maui, Lahainaluna High School and my parents who taught me this life-long perspective.

Much like doctors and lawyers, selling real estate is a practice. The more cases one does, the more expertise one has.

I began my real estate career in 1983 and have been full-time ever since. Since 1991, I have served my clients as a Broker Owner/Realtor in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Having participated in over 1,000 transactions, I know a great deal about real estate and the issues surrounding it.

All real estate agents and brokers are governed by fiduciary law and I take this very seriously.

As a fiduciary, I owe my clients my “highest duties including confidentiality, loyalty, and due care and diligence.” To put it simply, I must put their needs above my own, protect their interests and advise them as to their options.

I believe to really represent someone, both parties need to know and trust each other.

When I work with someone it is a relationship that involves open communication and collaboration.

I am very proud that nearly all my business comes via referrals.
Anyone can do a good job when things are going smoothly. However, professionalism shines if difficult issues arise.

This is when you want someone that has your best interests at heart. It is important to me that I squarely face the facts and, in a timely manner, advise my clients as to their options.

Hyperbole, overwrought emotions, or belittling never lead to good choices. If the time comes, you can expect me to provide level-headed professional advice and together we will arrive at the solution that is best for you.
I am often asked, “What market do you work in?”

The short answer is general brokerage on the island of Oahu. I will serve anywhere on Oahu where a client has a need, because I want to take care of my clients.

I recently closed a transaction at a price of $80,000. For clarity, this was an unusually small sale, but this client was a referral, with someone putting their name on the line for me, so I wanted to be sure they were taken care of. Thus, I did the job with the same care and diligence as an $8,000,0000 transaction.

My business is based on developing and maintaining long-term relationships.

My practice includes: houses; condominiums; residential and agricultural land; multi-unit rentals; small commercial buildings and court ordered sales for individuals, couples, families, professional trustees, U.S. Bankruptcy Trustees, Receivers and Special Administrators.

I began my real estate career in Orange County, California, selling investment properties.

I have personally invested, remodeled and managed rental properties since 1984, with many 1031 exchanges and multi-family units under my belt. I am well versed in analyzing and evaluating income properties, IRC Section 1031 Tax Deferred Exchanges, Installment Sales, Charitable Remainder Trusts and other tax advantaged vehicles.

If you ever have questions about cash on cash return, capitalization rates, gross rent multipliers or how to maximize your investment in real estate, I can help.

In 1995, one of my mentors (Putty Clark) asked me to help him with the sale of a commercial building in Kailua. It was being sold by the US Bankruptcy Court.

At first I demurred because I did not know anything about court ordered sales, but Putty said he would teach me. As a result of that one transaction, I began representing Bankruptcy Trustees from Hawaii and across the United States.

As time went on, I discovered various courts (probate, circuit and family) regularly order the sale of properties. Though not the same process as the Bankruptcy Court, there is a great deal of similarity between these actions. Since then, an ongoing and expanding journey in court ordered sales has ensued.

Personal Life

Happily married since 1991, we live on top of a mountain overlooking Diamond Head, miles of ocean and nightly sunsets.

Free time is spent at our 28 ranch acres on the North Shore of Oahu beekeeping, growing citrus trees, lavender and enjoying the country now that our son and daughter are grown.

I still paddle outrigger canoes competitively, work out daily and love to read, hike and mentor whoever will listen to me. My strong faith in God and an avid interest in history are my touchstones.
